A male pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning after a pick-up truck struck him on the Glenn Highway. The driver then fled the scene, according to the Anchorage Police Department.
Another driver called police just after 3:30 a.m. to report the y had witnessed a hit-and-run, which occurred on the inbound side of the Glenn between the Muldoon Road and Boniface Parkway exits, according to APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.
She said they found the victim’s body and have identified him, but will not release his name until his next of kin have been notified of his death.
Castro said two lanes on the inbound side of the Glenn were closed while APD’s Traffic Investigation Unit conducted their initial review of the scene. All lanes have since reopened.
“Police believe the suspect vehicle is a dark colored pick-up truck that will have some front end damage,” Castro said in a statement.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Anchorage police at 907-786-8900. An anonymous tip can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 907-561-7867.
