Update Wednesday, 8:30 p.m.
Earlier this afternoon there was a burglary reported on the 6100 block of Romania Drive, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Dani Myren.
The suspects were seen fleeing in a full-size pick-up truck, police said, and a computer check of the truck revealed it had been stolen.
Police looked for the vehicle and found it at an extended-stay hotel near 34th Avenue and the Old Seward Highway. When officers got behind the vehicle, two people fled on foot, said Sgt. Michael Kerle.
One person was quickly apprehended, but the other managed to dodge police, stole a vehicle and rammed into two police cruisers in the process, Kerle said.
Police pursued the carjacking suspect until he ditched the badly damaged vehicle near Togiak Circle, Myren said. After setting up a perimeter around the area, police were eventually able to take the suspect into custody peacefully.
No one was injured.
Update Wednesday, 7 p.m.
