Anchorage police are searching for four people after multiple assaults and robberies in the Mountain View area Friday night.
A release from police states around 10 p.m. Friday, they were called to North Bunn Street and Mountain View Drive where a man said four males robbed him, taking his wallet and cell phone. Anchorage Police Department (APD) spokesperson Anita Shell wrote that the victim was hit in the head with a bottle during the incident and had cuts on his face. The man described his attackers to APD as, “four Samoan males, one very heavy set, three with an average build; one of the assailants had blonde hair,” according to the release.
Police say about 10 minutes later, a 50-year-old man walked into the Holiday gas station store at 4627 Mountain View Drive and said he had been walking nearby when he was assaulted and robbed of his wallet. The victim was bleeding and had a cut on his lip. The 50-year-old victim described his assailants to police as, “two Samoan males and two black males.” Shell wrote that no arrests were made in the case.
About an hour after the first incident, APD answered multiple 911 calls from residents near the 3800 block of Thompson Avenue, who stated four individuals were attempting to break into a home. In the release, Shell cites witness reports of four males throwing rocks at windows and kicking the front door of the home.
The homeowner, a 72-year-old man, was on the phone with police when the suspects made entry, police stated. The man was beaten in the head and suffered a skull fracture. APD says he was unconscious when officers arrived so it is unclear if anything was stolen from his home.
Shell stated the man was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery. He remains in critical condition.
Police tried to find the four individuals using a K-9 track, but were unable to locate them. The release states that the APD crime scene team was on the scene until about 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
