A man was arrested for allegedly firing multiple shots into a crowd at a bonfire early Sunday morning, Alaska State Troopers report.
Troopers were notified of the shooting just after 2 a.m. at Coal Hills in Sutton, according to an online dispatch. They were told someone in a white Jeep fired into the crowd and then fled towards Palmer.
When they arrived at the bonfire party, troopers found two vehicles with damage from a bullet, and a victim who was “grazed with a bullet under the right knee,” the dispatch stated. Troopers said several other people at the party were placed in fear from the shooting.
Near the intersection of the Glenn Highway and Palmer Fishhook Road, troopers pulled over a white Jeep Patriot they said matched the description given by witnesses. Randi J.D. Lee, of Wasilla, was a passenger in the vehicle.
“Investigation found Lee shot toward the crowd from a moving vehicle,” troopers wrote, noting that alcohol appeared to be a factor in the shooting. Nothing was said about the driver.
Troopers charged Lee with second-degree assault, seven counts of third-degree assault, first- and fourth-degree weapons misconduct and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He is being held at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility under bails of $5,000 cash corporate and $10,000 cash performance.
