A 51-year-old woman is dead and a family member is in custody following a shooting Saturday morning.
Alaska State Troopers said in a dispatch they have arrested 21-year-old Eli Simpson in connection to the death of Riba Dewilde.
Someone called troopers around 7:47 a.m. to report that Dewilde had died, according to the dispatch.
“Investigation determined that she was shot by a family member and succumbed to her injuries,” troopers wrote.
Simpson faces charges of first- and second-degree murder and is being held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
