The owners of a local pot shop say a Thanksgiving break-in will delay their opening day.

Someone burglarized Enlighten Alaska on Spenard Road on Thursday. The owners say they discovered items missing when they went back to the shop on Friday.

Among the items stolen were electronics, tools and even the store’s wifi router — all worth around $5,000 total.

“Enough to really hurt us right now and especially because of how much money we’ve been putting into this,” said co-owner Evan Levinton. “The whole time it’s just — really hurts, you know.”

Levinton said the shop was scheduled to open Dec. 17, but now that will be delayed a week or two.

The Anchorage Police Department already visited the shop to conduct its preliminary investigation, which is ongoing, according to Levinton. Enlighten Alaska installed a security system Saturday to prevent additional thefts.

KTVA 11’s Eric Ruble can be reached via email or on Facebook and Twitter.

Correction: An earlier version of this report misspelled the shop’s name. This has been corrected.
