A store employee was injured while trying to stop an alleged thief on Saturday morning, according to the Juneau Police Department.
The incident began when 18-year-old Dylan Leland Barger allegedly took items from a store on Mendenhall Mall Road and then got into a vehicle, police said in a statement.
“An employee of the store followed Barger and reached in the open passenger side window to try and retrieve the items,” police wrote. “Barger rolled the window up the arm of the employee, drug him with the car, and punched him several times in the face.”
Police were notified of the incident at 9:40 a.m., and responded to the store to investigate. Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle and a partial license plate, which JPD officers used to track down the vehicle. They found it in the driveway of a Mendenhall Valley home, where they also found Barger inside.
Barger faces charges of second-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault and fourth-degree theft, according to police.
The injured employee was treated and released from Bartlett Regional Hospital, police wrote.
