FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) – Police in Alaska say the suspected gunman in an apparent murder-suicide that left four dead at a Fairbanks hotel was the son of a former local police officer.
Fairbanks police say the former officer, Al Hutton, was found crying in a second-floor hallway of the Hampton Inn Nov. 25.
Police say Hutton directed responding officers to a nearby room, where they found the bodies of 22-year-old McKay Hutton, his 54-year-old mother Linda Hutton, 22-year-old wife Emily McDonald, and 8-week-old daughter Teagan Hutton and 22-year-old McKay Hutton.
Police have said preliminary evidence pointed to McKay Hutton as the shooter.
According to police, Al Hutton told authorities the family was at the hotel because they were moving out of state.
There no listing in Alaska for Al Hutton, whose wife, Linda Hutton, was one of the victims.
