An 18-year-old Anchorage man who told police he killed his foster father because he took away a vapor cigarette charger has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

State prosecutors say Peter Henry pleaded guilty Friday to killing 64-year-old Marvell Johnson on Oct. 7, 2014.

Henry was 16 when Johnson died. A plea agreement calls for a prison sentence of 80 years with 20 years suspended.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 30.

Johnson was host of “Soul to Soul,” a music show on public radio station KSKA-FM for nearly 40 years. Family members say Johnson and his wife had opened their home to foster children for 25 years.

Anchorage police found Johnson dead an upstairs bedroom of his east Anchorage home. An autopsy determined Johnson had been shot multiple times.
