ANCHORAGE – A Palmer man was arrested after making “obscene and harassing” 911 calls that delayed legitimate emergency calls, authorities said.
Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m., Alaska State Troopers received a report that 58-year-old Jordan Greer of Palmer was “making numerous obscene and harassing phone calls to 911,” according to a troopers report.
Greer delayed real 911 calls, causing a slowed response by taking up a line, said troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters. He was not reporting emergencies.
He initially called earlier in the evening claiming someone who stayed with him stole things from him, but began threatening people’s lives and directing profanities to whomever he was speaking with, Peters said.
Greer made 26 911 calls and about 30 non-emergency line calls that started around 6 p.m., according to troopers.
He was warned by dispatch centers and troopers that if he didn’t stop he would be arrested for second-degree harassment, Peters said. He was taken into custody around midnight.
