What was initially reported by Alaska State Troopers as a home invasion and shooting has since become a homicide investigation.
In an online dispatch published Monday morning, troopers said the incident was reported at 8:47 p.m. on Sunday in Soldotna.
One person was injured and taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Peninsula Clarion reports.
In a later update, it was revealed that the Alaska Bureau of Investigation was conducting a homicide investigation in the case.
“Due to the nature of this investigation no further details are being released at this time,” troopers concluded.
Troopers deferred requests for further information about the case, saying investigators would provide updates in the dispatch.
On Tuesday, trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said investigators would only say that the incident did not appear to be a random event. They have not released suspect information.
This is a developing story, please check back for updates.
