Brandy Sullivan was a customer service agent with Alaska Airlines at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport for about eight years. Two years ago, Kim Crisafulli joined the company, and Sullivan trained her.

“She was that lady that women envy,” Crisafulli said. “She’d come into work and she had so much class, no matter what was going on in the world.”

Sullivan died Thursday afternoon. Anchorage police said her estranged husband, 40-year-old Adam Sullivan, shot her while their two young daughters were in the house. He was arraigned at the Anchorage Correctional Complex Saturday on first- and second-degree murder charges. He is being held on performance and appearance bonds of $500,000 each.

Crisafulli said Brandy Sullivan’s death was a shock at the airline, which she described as a family.

“I think our manager summed it up very well, ‘Death [and] heartache leaves all of us with no way to heal, and love leaves us a memory that no one can steal,’” Crisafulli said.

According to court documents, the Sullivans’ 13- and 11-year-old daughters called 911 to report their mother was shot. Adam Sullivan met his brother at a bar on Dimond Boulevard, where he admitted to shooting Brandy, according to court paperwork filed Thursday.

Adam Sullivan then went to a Lowe’s home improvement store in South Anchorage. His brother followed him and told police what was happening. Officers arrested him near the store with two handguns and a box of ammunition. Police said the handgun and ammunition match bullets and shell casings found next to Brandy Sullivan’s body.

“Unfortunately, this is one of those moments – with the anger built up inside – that I wish the death penalty was upon us,” Crisafulli said.

A mother of five girls and two boys, Crisafulli said she and Brandy Sullivan often discussed their daughters. She said while she wants justice for her friend, nothing can bring Brandy Sullivan back to her daughters.

“He’ll never serve a sentence long enough to take away what those two children will lose,” Crisafulli said.

She said it was difficult to see any faults in Brandy Sullivan.

“We will go through remembering her the way that she was: beautiful in every way,” Crisafulli said.

Court records show Adam Sullivan filed for divorce in January. Gayle Brown, his lawyer, declined to comment on the case at court Saturday.
