The Fairbanks Police Department is investigating the death of a 44-year-old man found dead in the Interior city Friday.
According to the department, police were notified of a disturbance and person down at Third Avenue and Hall Street at 12:24 a.m. When they arrived, they found Fairbanks man Jose Alfonso Sifuentes-Morales dead in the in the road.
Fairbanks police said they’re not immediately releasing the specifics of how the male died, only that he wasn’t killed in a hit and run.
“The Fairbanks Police Department is not publicly discussing possible suspects,” the release stated. “The public should be aware that there is a dangerous person(s) that poses a threat to the members of our community and to call 911 in the event you have possible suspect information.”
Anyone who has been in recent contact with Sifuentes-Morales, or has information on his death, is asked to call detective Peyton Merideth at 907-450-6553.
According to police, Sifuentes-Morales went by the nickname “Shorty.” His next of kin has been contacted.
