Anchorage police officers were called out to the area of 4400 Mountain View Dr. shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday morning following reports of a shooting.
Police discovered a man at the scene lying on the ground. He had been shot in the torso, according to a release from the Anchorage Police Department.
The victim told police he was walking and had been shot by a “Samoan male” who got out of a red 4-door sedan and attempted to rob him.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to live.
“Evidence collected at the scene indicates this was a drug-related event,” police wrote.
