A Kipnuk man allegedly made threats against a school, leading to a full lockdown and his arrest, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The incident occurred on April 4, according to an online dispatch. Troopers wrote that 20-year-old Anthony Kashatok “had made threats in the school in Kipnuk that led to the lockdown of the school,” including statements “that he wanted to kill everyone in the school.”

Kashatok allegedly “came at a teacher in a manner that led her to think he was going to hurt her,” according to troopers, who added that he stopped his advance when another teacher stepped in to intervene.

“As he was being escorted out of the school, [Kashatok] stated that he needed to get a gun,” troopers wrote.

Troopers arrested Kashatok and charged him with second-degree terroristic threatening and fourth-degree assault. He was booked at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

Kashatok had recently pleaded guilty to charges of domestic violence-related assault but had been released on probation, according to online court records.

Kipnuk is a village located in the Bristol Bay region of western Alaska and has a population of roughly 630 people, according to the last census.
