Anchorage police say they’re conducting a death investigation near the 5600 block of Lake Otis Parkway.
According to an officer at the scene, police were notified of a shooting at 2:22 a.m., Wednesday. A male and female were both shot, but the female was killed. The male was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
“We are not sure exactly what had taken place prior to police being called, but we know the people at the residence did not call police; it was a neighbor that called,” APD’s homicide unit Lt. Cmdr. John McKinnon said. According to McKinnon, it’s unclear if the two were staying together, but they were found in the same residence.
APD said no one has been arrested.
“The public should know that there is not a safety risk at this point,” McKinnon explained. “We are not looking for anyone else, the public is not at risk. The police are investigating. We’ve got multiple detectives that have been on this since about 2:30 this morning. We are questioning people and talking to them about what they may know, but there are no outstanding suspects that we are looking for.”
