An Anchorage man, who works as a LifeMed EMT, is accused of distributing child pornography.
According to court documents, Anchorage Police were able to download eight video files containing child pornography during an undercover online investigation in November of 2016.
In a criminal complaint, APD Officer Torres writes he was able to connect the IP address with user Jonathan Shrack, 26.
While serving a search warrant at Shrack’s residence on December 22, Torres writes he finally made contact with the suspect, who confessed to downloading, viewing and distributing the material through file sharing.
The complaint states the files contained images of prepubescent children as young as 3, and videos showing children being “brutally sexually abused”.
“[Shrack] confessed that he is sexually attracted to children,” Torres wrote.
Online court records show documents charging Shrack with one count of distribution of child pornography were filed on April 19.
Anchorage jail records list LifeMed LLC as Shrack’s employer. According to the company’s website, “LifeMed Alaska LLC provides 24/7 critical care air ambulance services throughout Alaska with full-scope transports for adult, pediatric, neonate and high-risk obstetric patients using an advanced fleet of Learjets, turboprops and helicopters.”
A spokesperson representing the company told KTVA Tuesday that Shrack has worked for LifeMed as an EMT, but is now on unpaid administrative leave while the company conducts an internal investigation.
Stephen Gonzalez of Gonzalez Marketing said Shrack would not have had unsupervised contact with young patients.
“We can confirm that Mr. Shrack worked as an EMT on an ambulance crew that consisted of several team members and that transport protocol requires a minimum of two team members for every transport,” Gonzalez said. “It should also be noted that the allegations do not place the activity within the facilities of LifeMed Alaska.”
Online court records show Shrack is out on bond. When KTVA visited his home in south Anchorage, a woman with a small child answered the door. All she would confirm is that Shrack lived there, before asking us to leave.
Members of APD’s Computer Crimes Unit were not available for an interview Tuesday.
Shrack is expected to appear in court on May 5 for an arraignment.
