The Anchorage Police Department released the identity of a woman who suffered a fatal gunshot wound in downtown Anchorage Tuesday night as Liteh Fogg.

According to APD, at 8:13 p.m. police dispatch began to receive calls about a loud verbal argument at a home on the 200 block of Denali Street.  In a release from the agency, APD noted that dispatch advised responding officers that someone had been shot.

The house police were called to is a single-family home, with rooms rented out to several people. APD said Yolanda Castro is the building’s landlord, and at the time of the shooting, she’d been staying at the house and making repairs.

On May 16, police said Castro changed the house’s locks. A woman had been renting one of the rooms, which the renter shared with Fogg. Fogg and the tenant were not there when the locks were changed, the agency explained.

“At around 8 p.m. the tenant, Fogg, and another female friend arrived at the residence and discovered they could not get in,” APD said. “The three women went around to the back of the house where Fogg found a ladder, and used it to crawl on top of a shed. From the top of the shed, Fogg attempted to open the window of the room she had been staying in. Castro and two other individuals were inside the room at the time Fogg was trying to gain access. A verbal argument ensued between Fogg and Castro when Castro shot Fogg with a shotgun.”

Emergency responders declared Fogg dead at the scene.

Police said four people were inside the home at the time of the shooting, and no one else was injured, but several people were questioned by police.

Castro was charged with first- and second-degree murder.

This is a developing story; check back for updates.
