The owner of Uncle Joe’s Pizzeria is hoping the public can help identify a masked man who robbed an employee at gunpoint.
Police say it happened at 11:24 p.m. Saturday. They received a call stating the Uncle Joe’s Pizzaria located at 6839 Jewel Lake Road had been robbed.
Pizzeria owner, Joe White said it was at the end of a shift, and only one employee was left when the robber came in the back door. The suspect was captured in surveillance footage pointing a gun at the employee — wearing all black clothing and a mask. The suspect demanded money from the till and received an undisclosed amount, then ripped the business line out of the wall and took the employee’s cellphone before fleeing on foot, police said. The employees phone was later found abandon in the roadway.
A K9 track was conducted, but no suspect was found. No arrests have been made. No one was hurt.
White said his business has never been robbed before, and the incident makes him “disappointed” in Anchorage. He said he’s happy his employees are okay and hopes the masked man is found, before he robs someone else.
This is a developing story; check back for updates.
