A 23-year-old man is expected to plead guilty to killing his mother’s boyfriend in January.
According to the District Attorney, Elliot Myas is pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Myas was accused of beating his mother’s boyfriend to death in his sleep at the Econo Inn on Fifth Ave. in Downtown Anchorage, police said.
According to APD, a group of people were watching football and drinking before it happened.
“During that time the victim was making fun of his girlfriend,” APD spokesperson Renee Oistad wrote in the release. “After the victim went to sleep, the girlfriend’s son physically beat the victim.”
A plea deal will result in a nine-year sentence with four suspended, meaning Myas will spend five years in prison.
Sentencing is set for October 30, where the judge will have to approve the deal to make it official.
