A 41-year-old man convicted of DUI six times over the last 20 years has been sentenced to serve time behind bars.
Thursday, Superior Court Judge Michael Corey sentenced Bernard Jack to five years in prison for his sixth felony DUI conviction; Jack pled no contest to the charge back in September 2016.
Anchorage PD responded to a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) call around 9:20 on May 9, 2016. The caller stated the vehicle was weaving all over the road and hit the curb several times in a neighborhood off Boniface Parkway and Glenn Highway.
Responding officers found the vehicle parked sideways in a driveway, and the driver, Jack, passed out inside with music blaring.
According to information presented in court, Jack performed poorly on the field sobriety tests and blew a .25 BAC.
Jack’s driver’s license had been revoked due to his prior DUI convictions in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2011 and 2012.
Judge Corey described Jack as the worst type of offender who is extraordinarily dangerous to the community and has zero prospects for rehabilitation.
Jack’s probation from a previous DUI conviction was also extended by three years as part of his sentencing Thursday.
