EVERETT, Wash. (AP) – A 39-year-old woman traveling cross-country from Illinois to Alaska for a new job says she lost all her possessions when someone stole her U-Haul and her minivan from the parking lot of an Everett, Wash., motel.
KOMO-TV reports (http://is.gd/2XMo7n ) that Kristen Shaulis had planned to stay just one night at a Best Western motel but came out to the parking lot Thursday morning to find the truck and vehicle had vanished. She’s moving to Alaska for a nursing job.
Police spokesman Aaron Snell says surveillance video shows a dark Jeep Commander driving up to the U-Haul shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday. Someone gets out of the passenger side, opens the U-Haul door and drives off. The minivan was on a car trailer attached to the 14-foot box truck.
Shaulis is left with a few clothes and her two dogs.
KOMO says the Red Cross is giving her a ride to Bellingham on Friday to catch a ferry to Alaska.
