ANCHORAGE – Police are still looking for a killer they say is responsible for the death of 32-year-old Andrew Conn.

On Saturday night, Conn’s body was discovered by a close female friend in his townhouse on the 20600 block of Mountain Vista Drive in Eagle River. The woman had been trying to reach him throughout the day, so she went to check on him.

“When police responded, they found some elements that seemed suspicious surrounding the death; therefore APD detectives were called to investigate further and they started treating that investigation as a homicide,” said Jennifer Castro, an APD spokesperson.

Investigators have since released very few details about the case, but said they are looking to the public for more information.

“Anyone who last saw Andrew Conn, last spoke with Andrew Conn, anyone who has any kind of information … obviously if they live in the neighborhood, saw somebody going inside of his house, any of that information would be helpful at this point,” Castro said.

Laura Mayo and her husband live down the street. She didn’t know Conn, she said, but is shocked by the news.

“With the baby in the park and this happening, kind of makes you step back with everything — I don’t want to judge the neighborhood different, but it does make you double-check your doors at night,” Mayo said.

Conn was never in any serious trouble with the law, according to court records. Besides a few speeding tickets, the only thing of note on his record in Alaska is a misdemeanor no contest plea for an illegal gambling operation in 2007.

If you have any information regarding this case you can contact Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP. You can also submit an anonymous tip online.
