Police are still searching for the person responsible for a March double homicide.
On March 10 around 6 p.m., a man opened fire on three people inside a tent near Fifth Avenue and Karluk Street, police say.
Robert Workman, 55, died at the scene and Mae Melovidov, 47, died a short time later at a local hospital.
A third victim, whose name has not been released, was critically injured but is expected to survive, said police spokeswoman Anita Shell.
Police have exhausted many of their leads, Shell said, and are asking for the public’s help.
“We feel somebody may know something,” she said. “This happened in broad daylight, 6 o’clock, rush hour traffic, Monday afternoon — we think that people would have seen something.”
The suspect was last seen walking toward Sixth Avenue, police say. A possible motive for the attack is unclear.
“There doesn’t appear to be any kind of altercation that occurred or anything that provoked this attack,” Shell said.
Authorities are asking people with information to call Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP or submit a tip anonymously online. People who help solve felony cases are eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
