ANCHORAGE – Two men were convicted Tuesday on charges of kidnapping, assault, burglary and criminal mischief stemming from an August 2011 attack in Chignik Bay.
According to a statement from the Department of Law, 22-year-old Oregon resident Daniel Whittington and 38-year-old Alaska resident Lloyd Davis Jr. could face up to 106 years in jail for the crimes.
State attorneys said Whittington and Davis were two of the three men who attacked an 18-year-old male sleeping on a boat. After forcing their victim onto the dock and stripping off his clothing, the three men strangled him with a noose then forced him to lead them to the home of “another intended victim.”
When the group arrived at the residence, the attackers instructed the 18-year-old to go inside and bring out the second victim. Instead, he locked the doors to the house and called Alaska State Troopers.
Whittington and Davis are scheduled to receive their sentences May 19, 2014.
