The man accused of killing six family members — including four children — execution-style appeared before a judge Friday morning in a Houston-area courthouse.
Ronald Lee Haskell, 33, made his first court appearance on a capital murder charge.
During the appearance, Haskell collapsed twice to the floor. He had to be helped up by deputies, who then placed him in a chair and rolled him out of the courtroom.
Haskell lived in Alaska and went to Chugiak High School. KTVA spoke with a classmate of Haskell’s who said he was homecoming king and that he was quite popular.
He is accused of breaking into his ex-wife’s sister’s home and shooting his former sister-in-law, former brother-in-law and their five children after he was unable to track down his ex-wife. One of the children survived by playing dead. According to CBS affiliate KHOU, Haskell had a history of violence.
