A 23-year-old Juneau man faces felony assault charges after allegedly pointing a bow and arrow at an Alaska Native couple.
The Juneau Empire reports (http://is.gd/1K85GO) Wesley J. Bowman is due in court later Tuesday. Online court records didn’t list an attorney for Bowman. There’s no phone listing for him.
Police Lt. David Campbell says before Bowman pointed the bow and arrow at the couple, he allegedly said something like: “Stop doing that, Native.”
Campbell says it wasn’t clear what he wanted the couple to stop doing, or if the Saturday incident was racially motived. Police do say alcohol was a factor.
During an Alaska Native Celebration in June, a man yelled racial epithets at the crowd. A suspect has been identified, but no charges have been filed in that incident.
