Police: Wednesday shootings injure two

Shootings in South Anchorage and Midtown injured two people Wednesday night, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

The first happened around 10:30 p.m. in the area of 32nd Avenue and Eureka Street when police say they responded to reports of a man who had been shot. When authorities arrived they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound in his leg. The man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Anchorage police say they are investigating the incident.

The second happened just before 11 p.m. near Dimond Boulevard and the Old Seward Highway; according to APD dispatch, a female was shot and taken to a local hospital. No information was immediately available on whether the two shootings were related.
