An armed man threatening to kill his former boss was disarmed by McCarthy citizens Saturday afternoon, Alaska State Troopers said.
Troopers received a call around 3 p.m. Saturday that a “disgruntled terminated employee” of McCarthy Lodge — later identified as 33-year-old Josh Pratt of Talkeetna — was armed with a gun, appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was threatening to kill his former employer, troopers said in an online dispatch.
McCarthy citizens restrained and disarmed Pratt until authorities arrived. Pratt was arrested for third- and fourth-degree assault and fourth-degree misconduct involving a weapon, troopers said. He was at held at the AST detachment in Glennallen pending arraignment.
McCarthy, located in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, has a population of about 30 year-round residents, according to state data.
