Alaska State Troopers are calling on the public for help tracking down a 24-year-old man who escaped a halfway house near Ester Thursday morning.
Vincent Blue-Matheny ran from the Northstar Center lobby around 10:30 a.m. while paperwork for his transfer from Fairbanks Correctional Center was being processed, said AST spokeswoman Beth Ipsen in a statement.
Blue-Matheny was in custody for violating his conditions of release after he was charged with driving under the influence, failing to stop at the direction of a police officer, endangering the welfare of a child, driving with a revoked license and fourth-degree domestic violence assault, Ipsen said.
He is described as 5-foot-6, weighs about 165 pounds and has a birthmark on his left cheek. When he ran away he was wearing a black t-shirt underneath a black hoodie with a gray and black hockey jersey over the sweatshirt. He was also wearing gray sweatpants and black shoes with no laces, Ipsen said.
Blue-Matheny could face a charge of second-degree escape, Ipsen said.
Troopers ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911 or 451-5100.
