A man armed with a shank or sharp tool robbed a Juneau coffee stand early Wednesday night, threatening a 20-year-old barista working by herself.
Sarah Solberg tells the Juneau Empire she didn’t at first realize the Heritage Coffee stand in Lemon Creek was being robbed. She says warehouse workers sometimes come in the stand’s back door.
Solberg says the man pointed the shank at her face and ordered her to open the cash register.
She estimates the ordeal lasted 10 seconds.
The suspect is described as a thin, Caucasian man wearing blue jeans and a black jacket. A black scarf covered his face.
Heritage Coffee President Grady Saunders says the incident was similar to a robbery a year ago at a company stand at the Juneau airport.
