A months-long investigation has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old Anchorage man accused of sexually abusing a young girl.
Matthew Stefanich was arrested Friday after investigators received reports earlier this year that he had taken “inappropriate pictures” of a girl in 2010 when he was living near Fairbanks, according to Alaska State Troopers dispatch.
Troopers say further investigation revealed additional evidence Stefanich may have sexually abused the victim as well. He was indicted by a grand jury Thursday and charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of exploitation of a minor, two counts of child pornography possession and two counts of indecent viewing/photography, according to court records.
