Anchorage police are investigating a shooting at a house party early Saturday morning in Northeast Anchorage that left two people injured.

At around 4 a.m., the Anchorage Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area of the 2400 block of Brookshire Loop, near Muldoon Road. Police also received a report of a “loud party” with approximately 50 people at a Brookshire Loop residence, according to a release from APD.

When police responded to the call, multiple vehicles were leaving the scene.

“Police received additional information reporting that a male had possibly been shot and was let inside the residence,” APD says, adding that officers found a blood trail inside and outside the residence, but were unable to locate the victim.

Later, APD received information that there was a male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at a local hospital.

“The victim was identified as having been at the reported residence where the shooting took place,” APD says.

Police say another male had also shown up at a different hospital with injuries to his head, “claiming he had been pistol-whipped at the party.”

The only information the two victims provided about the shooter was that he was a “Samoan male with long hair,” APD says.

Police are hoping that some of the partygoers who fled the residence will provide some information to police, says APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.

“The thing that people have to realize is that this may have not been the first time this person has fired a gun and it probably won’t be the last,” said Castro. “And someone who’s willing to take this kind of action in our community, it’s something that we want to prevent from happening in the future and possibly prevent a loss of life.”

Police are encouraging anyone with information on the shooting to call APD at 786-8900 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.

No arrests have been made at this time, police say.
