HOMER, Alaska (AP) – Police in Homer have arrested a 29-year-old man suspected of using a shotgun to rob a liquor store.

Michael McClendon was arrested Friday in connection with the robbery of the Grog Shop shortly before 11 p.m. Dec. 26.

He’s charged with armed robbery, evidence tampering, theft of a firearm, assault and possession of a firearm as a felon.

Police said the suspect wore a ski mask and sunglasses. The cashier on duty was not injured.

Police say McClendon used a cellphone to place a fake 911 call five minutes before the robbery.  Investigators linked McClendon to the call.

Officers recovered a gun and clothing used in the robbery at McClendon’s home. Police say he confessed to the robbery.

He’s being held without bail at Wildwood Pre-Trial Facility.
