ANCHORAGE – A man police believe was involved in a house party shooting was arrested Sunday, authorities said.
Police were told the shooting happened during a house party on the 2600 block of Easthaven Circle on Dec. 28, shortly after 4 a.m., according to a statement from police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.
When the host of the party asked Gregory Fort, 22, to leave, “he became combative” and phoned a friend, according to police. When Fort’s friend arrived at the party, he was wielding a gun and made verbal threats.
Fort then took the gun and fired several shots at the crowd, police said. A 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were shot. Fort then fled in a vehicle.
Both victims in the shooting were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injures. Fort has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault.
The arrest happened on the 600 block of North Bliss Street, according to police spokeswoman Dani Myren.
Tips from the public led police to his location, Myren said, and he was arrested with no problems.
