FAIRBANKS- A traffic stop led to the arrest of a man wanted on multiple burglary and theft charges, including stealing gas from a parked truck.
Brandon Barron, 36, of Fairbanks, was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop on Danby Street, said Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers had been looking for Barron since Jan. 8 when he was caught stealing gasoline from a parked truck on Gus’ Grind Road. Barron drove off in a 1997 Chevy Suburban while troopers were en route and slid into a ditch, troopers said.
When he got out off the truck, he ran off and forced his way into a home on Windfall Way, according to investigators. He stole money, two guns and a 2007 Arctic Cat snowmachine.
On Jan. 13, troopers found the snowmachine but not Barron or the guns.
Thursday afternoon, troopers said they stopped a vehicle on Danby Street near Johansen Expressway for moving and equipment violations. Barron was the driver.
While Barron was taken into custody, troopers said they are still looking for the guns, a .40 caliber Ruger handgun and a .40 caliber Glock handgun.
