The Anchorage Police Department says they are looking for the driver of a red truck that allegedly struck five parked vehicles before taking off from an apartment complex.
Police were called to the Alpine Apartments on Mockingbird Drive at 3:01 a.m. Sunday after an apparent hit and run occurred.
“According to several witnesses, a silver car and a red truck were leaving the parking lot, at a high rate of speed, at the same time,” APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad said in a statement. “Some witnesses thought the two vehicles may be chasing one another.”
Oistad said the red truck then struck five parked vehicles and fled the parking lot.
The driver of the silver car, 20-year-old Joseph Medina, was found at the apartments, and was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Oistad said he was also charged for driving without a license and misconduct involving a controlled substance. She said he was uncooperative with police and would not explain the incident involving the red truck.
“We do not have a license plate or identity of the driver of the red truck at this time,” Oistad wrote, noting that no cameras were able to capture the vehicle. “That truck left the scene before police arrived and has yet to be located.”
Oistad said only the red truck damaged vehicles. Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the red truck’s driver is asked to call APD at 786-8900.
