Police arrested a Homer man two days after he ran into the woods to avoid capture for charges of sexual abuse of a minor.

According to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers, the agency attempted to arrest 34-year-old Cim Blair on Wednesday. When troopers arrived at his residence, Blair fled into the woods and evaded capture.

The charge stems from a Fairbanks Alaska Bureau of Investigation and Anchor Point troopers probe into reports of a young girl being sexually abused while staying in the Homer area. According to the release, the girl identified her abuser as a family friend.

According to troopers, their investigation pointed to Blair. The case was referred to the Kenai District Attorney, who reviewed the evidence and the charge against Blair of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor. On June 8, the district attorney requested troopers arrest the 34-year-old.

With the help from the community, the Homer Police Department received information on Blair’s whereabouts. They responded Friday to an address on Kay Court and arrested the man without further incident, the dispatch states.

Blair is being held at the Homer Jail without bail. Troopers said they thank the citizens who called and the Homer Police for their assistance in locating Blair.
