Anchorage police are looking for a suspect wanted on multiple felony charges, some related to the use of checks stolen from an 80-year-old woman.
In a statement Sunday, police spokeswoman Renee Oistad said someone broke into the victim’s home while she was out of town in mid-June.
“The suspect stole several items including credit cards, checks, and ID, which have since been fraudulently used in several locations throughout Anchorage,” Oistad wrote.
On June 21, a man attempted to cash one of the stolen checks at a check cashing store. He fled before police arrived but they were able to positively identify him as 43-year-old Perry Back Jr. Police have charged him with second-degree forgery and second-degree theft.
Back also has unrelated warrants related to escape and burglary charges, Oistad added.
Back is 5-feet-9-inches tall, weighs 185 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. Oistad said he also wears glasses.
Oistad said while no one has yet been charged with the burglary at the woman’s home, the suspect left behind DNA evidence.
“We are waiting for the results to come back,” she said.
