Police have arrested a man in connection with an alleged gunfight between two groups in Mountain View Sunday. Following the dispute, witnesses were unwilling to give any further details, according to the Anchorage Police Department.
Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, APD officers responded to the 500 block of Irwin Street after reports of multiple shots being fired. In a release from police just after midnight, witnesses say the shooting was between two different groups of people. One group came from a black car and another from a gold minivan, the release states, though it’s unclear how many people fired a weapon.
Police stated the group with the gold van left the scene in the van before they arrived on scene. A man connected to the group with the black car went inside a nearby apartment, changed clothes and came back into the street. The man, 22-year-old Gatdor Reat, was arrested.
Police were notified at 10:13 p.m. that two men were dropped off at a local hospital with gunshot wounds, according to the release. One man was shot in the leg and the other had been shot in the pelvic region, neither of their injuries were said to be life-threatening, police stated. Neither of the men has cooperated with police about the circumstances of their injuries. No other injuries have been reported.
No one in the apartment Reat went into has been cooperative with police. As of midnight, Reat was the only person charged in connection with the shooting, according to APD’s release. Police charged Reat with misconduct involving a weapon, reckless endangerment, two counts of criminal mischief, as well as illegal tampering.
Police say the black car was shot multiple times, as were other parked vehicles in the area, including one of KTVA’s vehicles. A microwave inside a home located on the 3800 block of Thompson also was hit by gunfire. APD stated at least one weapon has been recovered.
This shooting comes about 24 hours after a fatal shooting in Mountain View that occurred Saturday night.
