Police responded to a flood of calls reporting the shooting just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. They say during the party, a fight broke out and someone pulled out a gun.
One witness described hearing at least 20 gunshots at the party, located on the 1600 block of Tammy Avenue. Another witness, a young man at the party, described a chaotic scene after the shots rang out. He says he had to hide in one of the bathrooms of the house.
“I went in there to try to be safe,” said Jacob Noblett, who told KTVA most attendees from South Anchorage High School. “It was repetitive, like, gunshots so I was like, yeah, I better hide, you know.”
Police have not released any suspect information, as of 10 a.m. Tuesday. But APD notes there were at least 75 people at the party.
The extent of the person’s injuries who was taken to the hospital is unclear. Another person also reported injuries but was not taken to the hospital, APD says.
