The Anchorage Police Department is asking two persons of interest in a recent homicide case to contact officers about the incident.
Police spokeswoman Renee Oistad issued a statement Tuesday regarding the death of Craig Berumen II, who she confirmed was killed at the Executive Suites on Spenard Road on March 8. His body was found nearby in a vehicle, located in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant next door to the hotel.
Oistad said an autopsy has been conducted on Berumen’s body, and his next of kin have been notified. She said the cause of his death was not being publicly released at this time.
Police would like to speak with two people who may have helpful information for their case — 31-year-old Emma Alto and 24-year-old Joseph Millard. Oistad said police would like Alto and Millard to contact them by calling 907-786-8900, referencing case 17-9760.
Chaz Shanigan, another person of interest in the case, was found and taken into custody, but Oistad said that his arrest was related to a separate case. Shanigan had an arrest warrant for escape after he left a halfway house where he was serving part of his sentence.
