ANCHORAGE – With the help of an informant, Anchorage police arrested two drug suppliers in West Anchorage.
On Feb. 20, undercover police discovered a man with heroin and methamphetamine, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro. After taken into custody, he opted to help police as an informant in a drug bust the next day.
On Feb. 21, the informant, Anchorage Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit, the APD Community Action Policing team and the FBI coordinated a drug deal between the informant and a drug supplier in West Anchorage, Castro said.
After the deal was over, officers obtained a search warrant for the supplier’s residence — 35-year-old Timothy Edwards — and arrested him.
Edwards was charged with third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, second-degree misconduct involving weapons and driving with a revoked license, Castro said.
Michele Alto, 51, who was also a drug supplier in the deal, was arrested and charged with third-degree and fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
From a search of the home where the drug deal took place, police seized 10 firearms, two of which were stolen, Castro said. It’s not known at this time if the other weapons seized were also stolen.
Police also seized about an ounce and a half of crystal meth and “several grams” of heroin, Castro said.
