Stolen snowmachines, a trailer and a truck were recovered Sunday after Alaska State Troopers received a tip that someone was trying to sell them in Soldotna.

Someone left an anonymous tip with troopers, who responded to the area of Lucky Raven in Soldotna around 6 a.m., according to an online dispatch.

“Upon arrival AST observed the vehicle with the two snow machines and attempted a traffic stop,” troopers wrote.

The driver of the truck refused to stop and led troopers on a chase from Soldotna to Kenai and back before they finally stopped him in a neighborhood, the dispatch explained. Troopers said 29-year-old Justin Lunsford and 38-year-old Shivonne Gouldman were in the truck. Lunsford, who had been driving the truck, was under the influence of drugs, troopers wrote.

Additionally, troopers found that not only were the snowmachines stolen, but the trailer and truck hauling them had also been stolen, all out of Anchorage.

“The two snow machines and trailer were returned undamaged to the rightful owners,” troopers wrote. “The truck is awaiting its return to its rightful owner and it [too] was undamaged.”

Lunsford was arrested for first-degree failing to stop at the direction of an officer, first-degree vehicle theft, third-degree domestic violence assault, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and three counts of second-degree vehicle theft.

Troopers charged Gouldman with first-degree vehicle theft and three counts of second-degree theft. Gouldman and Lunsford were both held without bail, according to troopers.
