ANCHORAGE – An Anchorage man was found guilty Wednesday of sexually assaulting his adult daughter.
A jury also found the man guilty of incest, according to a statement from the state Department of Law.
Early in the morning in August 2012, the man invited his then 20-year-old daughter to spend the night at his Spenard apartment after she had been drinking, the statement said.
His daughter fell asleep on the man’s bed and woke up to find he had stripped her clothes and sexually assaulted her, according to the Department of Law.
She shoved her father off her, dressed and fled the apartment. She then went to a friend’s house and phoned police.
The man was previously convicted of attempted sexual abuse of a minor daughter in 2000 in Nome, court records say. He has three prior assault convictions, including felony assault.
His sentencing is scheduled for July. Because of his prior convictions, the man’s sentence could be at least 20 to 35 years in prison.
Editor’s note: The man’s name was omitted from this story to protect the identity of the victim.
