ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – The man accused of vandalizing equipment at Alaska’s largest telecommunications firm is next scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Brodie Eguires-Lee faces several felony counts after police say he broke into the GCI communications room at a midtown Anchorage office building on Sunday and tore up equipment that caused statewide outages. Authorities also allege he threatened a GCI employee with a screwdriver.
Charging documents say he identified himself to another employee as “Lucifer” and was there to fix the machines. A GCI spokeswoman says repairs were immediately made and services restored by late Sunday afternoon.
He is being held on a $25,000 bail and was appointed a public defender, who didn’t immediately return a message to The Associated Press seeking comment Wednesday.
