ANCHORAGE – A 19-year-old Anchorage man accused of shooting another man in the head last month now faces an upgraded murder charge.
Police said Talon Draper allegedly shot Jermaine Twiley after overhearing him arguing with a woman in a neighboring apartment. Draper — originally charged with assault — told police he feared for the woman’s safety, and shot Twiley as he ran from the Mountain View apartment Jan. 7.
But after Twiley died from his injuries in an Anchorage hospital last week, prosecutors said Draper was indicted Friday on a charge of second-degree murder.
