Troopers are asking the public for tips after a Wasilla man said he and his passenger were shot at by another driver.
The 52-year-old Wasilla man and his passenger were not harmed, but a round did strike and damage the undercarriage of a Ford Escort the man was driving, according to Alaska State Troopers dispatch.
The man called troopers around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to report that he and his passenger were fired at by a fellow motorist on Seldon Road near Teeland Middle School in Wasilla. The man and passenger were headed east on Schrock Road near Lucille Street when they came up behind a dark green vehicle, described as a “convertible sports-car type sedan with a black top,” according to dispatch. Two males were in the car.
“A leap frog road rage scenario ensued,” troopers wrote.
The driver of the dark green car tried to personally confront the driver of the Ford Escort by getting out of the car and blocking the road. The Ford Escort driver tried to flee the green car.
When near the Seward Meridian Parkway on Seldon Road, the green car pulled up alongside the Escort and fired rounds from a handgun at the Escort before driving away.
Troopers ask anyone with information to call them at 352-5401. People can also submit tips to Mat-Su Crime Stoppers by calling 745-3333 or going online.
