ANCHORAGE – A Willow woman spent Christmas in jail after leading law enforcement officers on a two-mile chase and ramming a trooper vehicle early Wednesday morning.
According to trooper dispatch, 60-year-old Dona Carnahan called 911 shortly around 12:15 a.m. Hysterical, she said someone had taken a female from the residence.
When troopers responded and attempted to contact Carnahan, she left the residence in a vehicle and refused to pull over when troopers attempted a traffic stop. After about two miles, troopers said she turned around in an intersection and rammed the trooper’s vehicle head on.
The trooper was uninjured but Carnahan – who had been drinking — sustained minor injuries. Troopers said both vehicles suffered “significant damage,” and they discovered Carnahan had a shotgun in her vehicle while eluding law enforcement officers.
She was arrested and charged with third-degree assault on a police officer, first-degree eluding, third-degree criminal mischief, DUI and misconduct involving a weapon in the fourth degree.
