Two suspects remain at large after a shooting outside of a downtown bar left six people injured.

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning outside the Kodiak Bar and Grill, located at 225 E. Fifth Avenue, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

Police blocked Fifth Avenue between Cordova Street and Barrow Street for hours as they investigated the incident.

According to statements from the victims, a group of friends and family members were outside Kodiak when a verbal altercation took place. Moments later, at a little before 4:30 a.m., gunfire erupted.

Detectives worked throughout the morning conducting interviews with victims and witnesses. APD’s Crime Scene Team could be seen outside Kodiak as drivers were forced to find another route through downtown.

“They’ve got a bit of evidence still out there that they have to look at,” said an officer at the scene Sunday morning.

A dark blue Chevy Suburban was parked outside the Kodiak. Not far from the vehicle lay numerous crime scene evidence markers.

Authorities have released the names of the six victims from the shooting. Jonah Silva is the only victim whose injuries are described as life-threatening. The 20-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen, police say.

According to APD, Willie Popoalli, 34, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his back; Dorothy Tialino, 20, suffered a gunshot wound to her shoulder; Tasi Silva, 21, suffered gunshot wounds to his waist and knee; and Derrick Parson, 21, suffered a gunshot wound to his forearm. Police say their injuries are non life-threatening.

Police describe the suspects as two males in their mid-20s who are approximately 6 feet tall. No vehicle description is available at this time.

“We just want to urge anyone who witnessed this or has heard anything about who was involved in this shooting to call Anchorage Police,” said APD spokeswoman Anita Shell.

Shell encourages those with information to call APD at 786-8900 or Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
